Monthly Archives: January 2017

Amanda and Eliza

I started the New Year with a list of things I want to achieve in 2017.  It’s now the end of January and I’ve only achieved what’s not on the list!

I completed a portrait of a mother with her new born daughter whose strawberry marks give her a beautiful intense look.

I played with an idea for combining landmarks and native flowers in a painting.

I’d better make a Chinese New Year Resolution to tackle what is on my list!

Hooroo!

Goodbye 2016

Yay – I finished my journal for 2016 and my last visual collage for each month!

Our December was packed full of family, friends, events, house and garden projects and preparations for the festive season.  The only painting I did was with yarn, fabric and chocolate – not together but that might be interesting…

The artworks in my collage (days 15 and 17) are by Angie Lewin whose linocuts, wood engravings and screen prints I admire.  On these days my time was mainly spent on mundane tasks and I found distraction / inspiration for better things by looking at her work.

Finishing What I Started

I like to finish what I start, even if along the way the end result is not as good as I imagined.  At least I can respect my persistence and depend on my word.  I’m also encouraged by knowing that sometimes a pig’s ear does turn in to a silk purse along the way!

So, for completeness sake here is my visual diary collage for November 2016. I also like to finish in good time but…
