Re-stocking!

As soon as I finished with Inktober I started filling any spare time with making replacement stock for Kalamunda’s Zig Zag Cultural Centre.  No rest for….

My budget home Canon printer and other equipment cope well with my demands.

Hoping I’ll soon have time to take stock of my progress, my shortcomings and a very long projects list before deciding what to focus on next.  Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Reflections On Inktober 2017

This was the third year I’ve completed Inktober – this time 31 ink sketches in 32 days.  On reflection:

  • I’m still bemused as to why I do it, but still glad I do
  • It’s just as hard to fit into an already busy life as ever
  • Discipline is required to keep showing up
  • So is overcoming all one’s negative thoughts – pointless, useless, unworthy…
  • I kept to my self inflicted constraints (black & orange ink, featuring time, flora and my day)!
  • Constraints encourage creativity!
  • The first idea is not necessarily the best idea. I often think of a better idea after I’ve published!
  • Some sketches are fit to become the basis of a future art work
  • It’s tiring!
  • It’s inspiring!
  • It’s great when it stops!
  • I know I’ll miss it in a month or so and start looking forward to Inktober 2018 !@#$?

Time Is Like A River – Day 31 Inktober 2017

“Time is like a river
you cannot touch the same water twice because the flow that has passed
will never pass again…”  – Tanu B Singh

Inktober 2017 is over, water under the bridge, and on the last day I pondered the passing of time.

I chose the White Lotus as my flower of the day as it represents many things, including the end of a goal and a continuing journey.

Thank Goodness Its Monday – Day 30 Inktober 2017

I greeted this Monday, Day 30 of Inktober 2017, happily – it was an opportunity to recover from the various excesses of a very social and active weekend!  The chamomile flower in my sketch represents energy in adversity – much needed!

Open Studios Time – Day 29 Inktober 2017

Mundaring Hills Open Studios 2017 was held over the weekend.  We enjoyed meeting artists, admired their work and envied their studios.  We met artists working with glass, clay, paint, found objects and more. We particularly fell for the work of Silvano Ferrario and Bernard Kerr – but we only made it to five out of 18 studios.

A sketch inspired by Bernard and Jenny Kerr’s teapot and a linocut by Tina Bryce represents my day 29 of Inktober 2017.

Show Time! – Day 28 Inktober 2017

It was show time at Gidgiegannup on day 28 – with 6 good friends.  Lots of exhibits, lots of stalls, lots of food, lots of chat and lots of laughs!

Always a good opportunity to buy local produce.

That Time Of The Week – Day 27 Inktober 2017

It’s that time of the week – Friday finds us busy on household tasks again as there won’t be time for such things over the weekend, again! How lucky we are!
