When admiring a beautiful handmade pottery bowl at an Open Studio, I commented to a BFF who is a potter that it would make a lovely, but expensive hand basin for my ‘studio’.
My friend B replied that she’d made a bowl I could have because she intended to purposefully drop it because she was disappointed in it! So, now I have a rustic looking hand basin in gorgeous colours of ancient rocks outside and glazed inside in a luscious deep blue. The gloss glaze all over catches the light in wondrous ways – I love it! I’m happy to have inadvertently saved it from being smashed.
The experience reminds me that one person’s reject is another’s treasure – and I, like others, need to be kinder to ourselves in critiquing our creations.

My Rescue Bowl – #Inktober2019 Day 22
I better find the sealer! It will look great in your studio as will the sketch!
