On the 4th we left the elephant in the Wheatbelt behind as we departed the Kulin Bush Races. The elephant was at the races to raise awareness that Western Australian wheatbelt folk are 11 times more likely to die on the road than people living in the city of Perth!
The life sized elephant was built by a local sculptor, Maurice Rosbotham, commissioned by the RAC. The elephant skin is made from 500 kg of scrap from crashed cars! It has certainly got people talking and discussing the issues it was built to raise.
