Garlic for a home made brew to say goodbye to aphids and mites in our veggie garden:
If you want to try the potion too here’s the recipe:
- Chop up a bulb of garlic.
- Add 1 teaspoon of oil
- Cover and leave for 24 hours
- Add 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent to 1 cup of water
- Add water mix to the garlic mix and stir.
- Strain into a container and label – this is the concentrate.
- AddΒ 1 teaspoon of the concentrate to a litre of water in a spray bottle.
- Spray the aphids / mites.

NB I found it hard not to add pen lines to the sketch – another challenge achieved!
Aphids and Mites are on borrowed time. A lovely still life, a bit Moet π
Thanks G – more Moet than Monet I say! π
That’s a lovely drawing of garlic bulbs! Hubby usually uses insecticidal soap without the garlic and that seems to work, too. π
Thanks for the compliment Teresa – and for the tip, Insecticide soap would have been easier! π
Part of our reluctance to use garlic is because we don’t buy it, and we don’t want to use our delicious homegrown garlic on anything other than our food. π
I feel the same way about homegrown garlic! Have to admit I bought a bulb of garlic for the purpose – figured it might even work better than homegrown on the pests π
π You could be right about that!
